CPSO arrests man for String of Vehicle and Residential Burglaries

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On February 23, at approximately 1:00 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary at a home on Mary Karla Drive in Lake Charles. Upon arrival, the homeowner advised deputies she was awakened to a man, later identified as Joshua Fortune, 17, 1724 Quail Lane Apt. A, Lake Charles, shinning a flashlight on her. She said Fortune was in her room going through her belongings and when she screamed he fled. She informed deputies that she had two cell phones missing from the kitchen and both of her vehicles had been burglarized. She used the locater on her cell phone, and advised deputies her phone was in the area of Quail Lane.

When deputies spotted Fortune a short distance away from the home he fled from deputies, resulting in a brief foot pursuit until Fortune was apprehended. While deputies were patting down Fortune they located a large Buck knife as well as a key to a Jeep.

LCPD: Days Inn – Recovered Stolen Vehicle

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at approximately 11:22 a.m., the Lake Charles Police Department received a call that a stolen vehicle was parked outside of motel room #141 at 1212 N Lakeshore Drive (Days Inn) Lake Charles, LA. The complainant informed responding officers that the occupants of the vehicle were also in that room.

CPSO investigates Hit & Run Pedestrian/Vehicle Fatality in South LC

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of W. Tank Farm Rd. and Tuna Lane in Lake Charles around 5:30 this morning in reference to a pedestrian/vehicle fatality. The investigation revealed a car traveling east on W. Tank Farm Rd. struck Justin J. Brown, 26, of Lake Charles. It appears Brown was lying in the middle of the road when struck and killed.

The vehicle, described as a white, older model car did not stop after striking Brown.

LCPD goes on Hot Pursuit through Lake Charles

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 8, 2014 at 4:00 a.m., the Lake Charles Police Department was contacted by a customer at L’Auberge Casino in reference to witnessing an unknown male attempting to break into a car. Officers Michael Flurry, Luke Elter and Jess Griepsma responded to the call. The witness directed officers to the suspects’ vehicle. When officers approached, the suspect fled across the parking lot resulting in a vehicle pursuit.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 4, 2013 at approximately 1:50 AM L.C.P.D. Corporal S. Touchet & Officer S. Tatum investigated a stolen vehicle complaint which occurred at 1301 Ryan Street OB’s parking lot. As Officers were investigating this complaint they put a bolo out for the stolen vehicle. Shortly thereafter officer observed the stolen vehicle pull up at a stop sign eastbound on 2nd Street. When L.C.P.D. Officers tried to stop the stolen vehicle, the driver refused & a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect driving the vehicle crashed into a fence at 1708 21st Street then fled on foot. Cpl. Fontenot and his K-9 were deployed and K-9 tracked from vehicle to 1608 21st Street. Officers made contact with Michael DeVille at the residence read him his rights then questioned him and he admitted to stealing vehicle.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 2 at approximately 2:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched after receiving a report of a possible vehicle burglary in progress.

When deputies spoke to the victim, he advised he observed a man, later identified as William K. Foy, 18, 796 River Bend Lane, Sulphur, was standing near his truck. When the victim confronted Foy, he fled on foot.

Moments later, deputies located and arrested Foy near the victim’s driveway. During further investigation, deputies discovered Foy was in possession of several items stolen from the victim’s vehicle.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 30, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local car dealership in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a representative of the dealership who advised that on November 1, James P. Bertrand, Jr., 51, Lake Charles, purchased a vehicle valued at over $67,000, however, it was later learned Bertrand had a suspended driver’s license which made the contract void. The dealership attempted to retrieve the car on two separate occasions but Bertrand refused to give the car back.

CPSO deputies entered all information on the car, including the VIN number, into NCIC database and on December 5, Houston Police Department located the car and Bertrand at a motel in Houston. He was arrested by Houston Police Department for possession of stolen property and also an outstanding warrant in Houston for driving while intoxicated.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 24, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home in Sulphur in reference to an auto theft. When deputies spoke with the victim, he advised when he woke up, he discovered his SUV and several other items including a lock box containing several thousand dollars of savings bonds and silver coins, were missing from his home.

During further investigation, detectives discovered Jailon A. Hantz, 19, and Marcus G. Latalladi, 27, both of Sulphur, stole the victim’s SUV as well as the lock box and several various power tools from his home. Hantz and Latalladi, who are both acquaintances of the victim, had stayed at the victim’s home the night before the SUV and other items went missing.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. –Detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit recently launched a lengthy, multi-jurisdictional investigation with the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office

Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined Jeremy J. Landreneau, 21, 136 Meadow Drive, Ragley, and Eric P. Guidry, 24, 2276 Riverside Drive, Jennings, were involved in numerous thefts in all of the above parishes.

When questioned by detectives in reference to recent burglaries in the Calcasieu Parish area, Landreneau confirmed he purchased numerous tools, heavy equipment, and other miscellaneous items, he knew had been reported stolen. After being placed under arrest, detectives located a small clear bag containing suspected marijuana in Landreneau’s front pocket. During of search of Landreneau’s home, detectives also recovered a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamines, along with several glass devices used to smoke methamphetamines, in his bedroom.
