CPSO receives LA Highway Safety Commission

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Office has been award a $125,960 grant by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. The grant will be used to place off duty deputies on the roads to enforce seatbelt laws, drinking and driving laws, underage drinking and driving laws, and speeding laws.

The Sheriff’s Office will utilize checkpoints and saturation patrol to enforce these laws.

CPSO ARRESTS TWO IN SULPHUR HOME BURGLARY, LOOKING FOR TWO MORE

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 1, at approximately 12:40 a.m., the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a single car accident at the intersection of Evangeline Highway and Second Street in Starks.

The preliminary investigation revealed the car driven by Alvin Hodges, 40, 4457 Edwards Street, Starks, was traveling westbound on Evangeline Highway and appeared to have crossed the center line, running off the road, striking a culvert and flipping the car which came to rest on the roof in the ditch. Hodges was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) conducted a stop on a vehicle traveling eastbound between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation.

The driver of the vehicle advised detectives he was traveling from Houston to Montgomery, Alabama.

After the driver began to act suspiciously, detectives allowed their trained and certified drug detection K9 “Mako” to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle. After Mako provided a positive response to the odor of a controlled substance, a subsequent search revealed 3 cellophane wrapped bundles of marijuana, approximately 4 pounds, hidden in the driver’s luggage inside the vehicle’s trunk.

Who needs a traffic light or stop sign when a topless woman walks down the street?

Traffic came to a halt on Monday in Monongahela, Pa. around 3 p.m. when a shirtless woman stepped out of her car and paraded down the middle of the road for several blocks, The Valley Independentreports.

The unidentified lady also stripped off her pants, spun them around and wore them on her head, TV station WTAE says. Her shoes didn’t stay on her feet either. She threw them at passing cars. View full article »
