TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at approximately 11:22 a.m., the Lake Charles Police Department received a call that a stolen vehicle was parked outside of motel room #141 at 1212 N Lakeshore Drive (Days Inn) Lake Charles, LA. The complainant informed responding officers that the occupants of the vehicle were also in that room.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 3, 2014, a female victim reported that an unknown male took her iPad by force while she was walking near Huber Park in Lake Charles. The investigation revealed that 18 year old Deontez D. Davis robbed the victim of her iPad and sold it shortly thereafter at a local game store. Records and video surveillance from the store led to the identification of the suspect.

On May 13, 2014, Davis was arrested by Officer Mark Fontenot on an arrest warrant for Simple Robbery and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Bond was set at $150,000. The investigation was led by Detective Dustin Gaudet.

CPSO to add Charges to man who misrepresented himself during Book-in at Jail

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — Yesterday, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office released arrest information on a man who used a stolen casino rewards card to purchase over $540 worth of merchandise from casino stores. At the time of the arrest, the man, who had no form of identification on him, identified himself as Corey J. Barron, 25, Sulphur.

It was learned today after the story was made public and his mugshot was shown on the local media outlets, the man who actually committed the crime is Jacob L. Hastings, 26, Sulphur. Hastings will now be charged with theft over $500; and misrepresentation during booking.

A career criminal who stole a truck containing President Obama’s audio equipment was sentenced Thursday to seven years in federal prison.

Sentencing guidelines called for a term of about three years, but Eric Brown of Richmond, Va., agreed to the longer sentence to avoid prosecution for 14 similar truck thefts in three localities. However, he could still face charges in Stafford County, which did not join Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties in the agreement.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On February 6, detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Investigative Unit (VCIU) received information regarding possible stolen property located at the home of David B. Parker, Jr., 25, 2734 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles.

Upon arrival, detectives spoke with Parker and received consent to search his home and recovered over $20,000 worth of items that had been reported stolen from three separate homes in 2012 including a zero-turn lawnmower, a tractor, brush hog, and a utility trailer.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 24, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to parking lot on Mount Talbot Street in Lake Charles regarding a report of a suspicious vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a pick-up truck sitting in the parking lot that appeared to be abandoned. Upon further investigation, the deputies observed the locking mechanism on the driver’s side door of the truck had been punched out and the steering column had been damaged, exposing the wires.

TOTUS was taken — at least for a little bit.

That’s right, a truck carrying the president’s teleprompter (jokingly referred to as TOTUS, or the teleprompter of the United States), podiums, and audio equipment was stolen in Virginia, WWBT-TV reports.

The Department of Defense confirmed the heist, but it’s unclear if the thieves targeted the vehicle for what it contained or simply got “lucky.” View full article »

On Thursday morning in Westlake, Louisiana, 88 year old Priscilla Bowers woke up in her Westlake Elderly Apartment home to find her car had been stolen. Bowers owns a champagne color 1983 Oldsmobile Delta 88.

Priscilla’s son Joe Bowers says, “It was a classic car. It was beautiful. We just had it repainted last year as a matter of fact. It was champagne color and my mom just loved that car”! View full article »
