Nike, which helped build Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong cancer charity into a global brand and introduced its familiar yellow wristband, is cutting ties with the foundation in the latest fallout from the former cyclist’s doping scandal.

The move by the sports shoe and clothing company ends a nine-year relationship that helped the foundation raise more than $100 million and made the charity’s bracelet an international symbol for cancer survivors.

With the Indiana Pacers on a West coast swing, team officials thought it would be a good idea to get team mascot Boomer out on the road for some good old fashioned halftime exercise. The furry yellow and blue creature made a stop at New Palestine (Ind.) Tom Brady has the New England Patriots back in the Super Bowl.

The Patriots beat the stunned Ravens 23-20 in the AFC championship game Sunday after Baltimore’s Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal attempt with 11 seconds remaining that would have tied the score.

McNeese State begins a two game home stand Wednesday when the Cowboys host Southeastern Louisiana in a Southland Conference basketball game.

Tipoff is 7 p.m. in Burton Coliseum and featured at the game will be $1 hot dogs.

As for the game itself, the Cowboys, who will also host Northwestern State on Saturday afternoon in a twinbill (Cowgirls play the Lady Demons at 1 p.m. and the Cowboy-Demon game will tipoff 30 minutes following), will be attempting to get back on the winning track after bowing to Texas State in their last appearance. The top two teams in the country will collide in the Superdome, as SEC foes Alabama and LSU meet again this season, this time with the 2012 BCS National Championship on the line.

Les Miles was tabbed the National Coach of the Year as his Tigers ran the table and finished 13-0, while capturing the SEC title with a 42-10 rout of Georgia in the conference championship game. Not many teams even presented a challenge to LSU’s run to New Orleans, with a 19-6 win over Mississippi State in mid-September and a 9-6 overtime win in Tuscaloosa against Alabama in early November representing the closest contests.
