Grand Jury won’t indict Ferguson Cop in Shooting

A grand jury has decided not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown, the unarmed, black 18-year-old whose fatal shooting sparked weeks of sometimes-violent protests.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch announced the decision Monday evening. A grand jury of nine whites and three blacks had been meeting weekly since Aug. 20 to consider evidence. The panel met for 70 hours and heard from 60 witnesses.

Teacher tried to stop Washington State Shooting

A newly hired teacher confronted a gunman and was being hailed as a hero on Saturday after a deadly shooting rampage in the cafeteria of a Washington state high school.

First-year social studies teacher Megan Silberberger intervened in the attack Friday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, teachers union president Randy Davis said.

A purported conversation captured on a YouTube video apparently shot in the immediate aftermath of the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown has a possible witness saying the unarmed 18-year-old charged at the officer who fired the shots that have led to more than a week of sometimes violent demonstrations in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Friday, August 8, 2014 at approximately 5:47 a.m., the Lake Charles Police Department received a call at 2510 Hodges Street in reference to a shooting. Upon Officers’ arrival, they located a black male, Joseph Blue, deceased.

Investigation resulted in the arrest of Onzeletta Washington, (black female, 33 yoa, 2510 Hodges Street) on the charge of 2nd degree murder.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Monday, July 28, two additional arrests were made reference to the Cline Street drive by shootings and the Cline Street shooting of a 28 year male that occurred Friday afternoon.

Jessica Lynn Bartie and LaBrandon Bartie have been arrested and booked on warrants for accessory after the fact to attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Both have been booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.

CPSO arrrests Moss Bluff man in Connection with Drive By Shooting

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On July 27, around 4:30 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded in reference to a report of shots fired at a home on E. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered while the homeowner and his family were sleeping, they heard numerous gun shots being fired at their home. Deputies also discovered a witness was able to get a detailed description, including the license plate, of a black truck that was seen fleeing the area when the shots were fired.

After running the license plate number through NCIC, deputies quickly located the owner of the truck, Donald J. Ellis, Jr., 23, 1349 John Belle Road, Moss Bluff, at his home where they also located the black truck observed fleeing the area of the shooting.

LCPD: Shooting on 11th Street

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Friday, July 25th, 2014 Officers with the Lake Charles Police Department were dispatched to the 2300 block of 11th Street in reference to a male subject being shot.

Responding Officers located a 24 year old male on the sidewalk that had been shot. Acadian Ambulance treated the victim before being transported to a local hospital. The victim is listed in critical condition.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — At approximately 9:00 p.m. this evening a deputy with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation at the corner of Evans and Carr St. in Lake Charles. The driver of the vehicle, Evelyn M. Dargin, 33, stopped and got out of the vehicle but as the deputy was approaching, she fled in her vehicle.
