ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 12, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a stop on a car at the intersection of N. Simmons and Medora Street in Lake Charles for a traffic violation.

During the investigation deputies spoke with passenger, Travis L. Joseph, 33, 8326 Church Street, Vacherie, LA, and discovered Joseph, a registered sex offender from St. James Parish who was convicted of indecent behavior with a juvenile in March 1999, had been living and working in Calcasieu Parish for the past month without notifying the proper authorities within three days, as required by law for all registered sex offenders.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On December 13, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local mobile home park in reference to a complaint regarding sex offender, Luther J. Deel, 38, 300 Dobbertine, Lot # 29, Lake Charles, having inappropriate sexual contact with an 8 year old girl that lives in the same mobile home park as Deel.

During further investigation, deputies also discovered Deel failed to provide his full address on his Louisiana sex offender identification card, as required by law for all registered sex offenders.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 29, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies conducting extra patrol on a home on Harless Street in Lake Charles due to recent burglaries observed a man, later identified as sex offender Mark W. Williams, 54, 1706 Harless Street, Lake Charles, walking through the yard of the home.

When deputies approached Williams, he fled on foot and forced his way into the home. Deputies quickly apprehended Williams and during further investigation discovered the address listed on William’s Louisiana sex offender identification card was outdated and he had moved without notifying the proper authorities within three (3) days, as required by law for all registered sex offender.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 28, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Compliance and Awareness Program Unit (CAP) received information from Allen Parish officials regarding convicted sex offender Ronnie L. Cowan, Jr., 38, formerly of Oakdale, possible residing in at a home on Jim Pickens Road in Sulphur.

CPSO Detectives located and arrested Cowan at 208 Jim Pickens Road, Sulphur, and he was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender.

As required by law, when a sex offender moves they must notify the parish/county they are registered in of their plan to move and then must register within three (3) days with the parish/county they have moved to.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 25, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Compliance and Awareness Program Unit (CAP) arrested convicted sex offender William E. Armstead, 42, 278 Burleson Road, Sulphur, and charged him with illegal presence of a sex offender after an investigation revealed he was in violation of his probation conditions.

Armstead, who is currently on supervised release through Probation and Parole, is required to wear a GPS ankle device and prohibited from being within 1,000 feet of a school. Detectives were advised Armstead was located on GPS at a family member’s house on 14th Street in Lake Charles, which is less than 1,000 feet of T.H. Watkins Elementary School.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Tuesday, July 17, 2012, the Lake Charles Police Department Sex Offender Registration Division conducted an investigation concerning a subject who failed to Register as a Sex Offender and acquire a Louisiana Sex Offender ID as required by state law. As a result of the investigation, Detective M. Nicosia arrested the following person.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., Jason Ture Hendrickson, W/M, DOB: 7-30-1973 38yoa, traveled to the office of the Lake Charles Police Department Sex Offender Division, where he met with Detective M. Nicosia.

As a result of the investigation, Detective M. Nicosia arrested the following person.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., Detective Nicosia traveled to 1627 Bilbo Street and observed Michael Ray Lyons, W/M, DOB: 4-21-1962 50yoa, walking in the parking lot of 1629 Ryan street.

The press conference is over in Lafayette. Lafayette’s police chief says a burned truck found recently in Texas was registered to the man now facing a murder charge in the disappearance of college student Mickey Shunick.

Police Chief Jim Craft on Friday would not detail the evidence that has led police to believe that Shunick is dead.

Thirty-three-year-old Brandon Scott Lavergne was booked Thursday with first-degree murder and with aggravated kidnapping in connection with Shunick’s May 19 disappearance.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAFAYETTE, LA. — A registered sex offender has been booked on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the disappearance last May of a Louisiana college student, authorities said.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said Thursday night that 33-year-old Brandon Scott Lavergne, of the same parish, was booked on first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping charges by police in Lafayette, where University of Louisiana student Mickey Shunick went missing May 19.
