The Secret Service’s efforts to improve the conduct of agents working abroad is not enough for GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley, who continues to call for independent investigations and be one of the party’s most persistent members on the issue.

The Secret Service issued a 10-point conduct code late Friday, about two weeks after at least one agent allegedly brought a prostitute back to his hotel room in Cartagena, Colombia, as a team of agents prepared for President Obama’s arrival for an April 14-15 summit in the country.

Until his death in 1985, Jean-Marie Loret believed that he was the only son of Adolf Hitler. There is now renewed attention to evidence from France and Germany that apparently lends some credence to his claim.

Loret collected information from two studies; one conducted by theUniversity of Heidelberg in 1981 and another conducted by a handwriting analyst that showed Loret’s blood type and handwriting, respectively, were similar to the Nazi Germany dictator who died childless in 1945 at age 56. Google unveiled a new project dedicated to tackling some of the world’s biggest problems early Monday morning.

The company launched a site, called “Solve for X,” a TED-like think tank that will encourage problem solving and teamwork to come up with “radical” ideas for big picture problems.

“Solve for X is a place where the curious can go to hear and discuss radical technology ideas for solving global problems,” reads the Solve for X website. View full article »

Over 100 million smartphones are tracking their owners’ every step, Android developer Trevor Eckhart claimed, thanks to software that comes preinstalled on phones from most major carriers.

During a security demonstration revealed on Monday, Eckhart showed how software developed by Carrier IQ tracks virtually everything a user does — going as far as logging individual keystrokes and button presses. The company claims it helps its customers improve quality and performance “by counting and measuring operational information in mobile devices.” Security experts call it spyware.
