ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 11, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies patrolling in the area of Enterprise Blvd. and Broad Street observed a female running down the street screaming for help. When deputies spoke with the female, she advised Larry W. Loya, 54, 759 Louisiana Avenue, Apt. # 2, Lake Charles, an acquaintance, forced his way into her home armed with a large kitchen knife. Once inside, Loya pushed the victim to the ground, struck her several times in the face and attempted to stab her several times as she attempted to flee.

The victim was able to escape out of a door of her home and flag down deputies for help.

In a joint investigation that has spanned almost a year, Sheriff Tony Mancuso and District Attorney John DeRosier announced the arrest of William Felix Vail, 73, for the murder of his wife, Mary Horton Vail, in October 1962. Vail was arrested at his home located in Canyon Lake, Texas which is between San Antonio and Austin. Both DeRosier and Mancuso said this is undoubtedly the coldest case that either of their offices has investigated.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 10, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a mobile home on Highway 3059 in reference to a disturbance.

Deputies were advised Alvin Sylvester, Jr., 59, Lake Charles, went to the mobile home belonging to his estranged wife, broke several windows of the home and threated to kill the occupants of the home. Sylvester fled on foot before deputies arrived.

At approximately 7:00 a.m., deputies responded to the mobile home again in reference to a stabbing.

After one of his assistant prosecutors was gunned down in January, Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland carried a gun everywhere, even when walking the dog.

He was extra careful when answering the door at his home outside of Forney, about 20 miles east of Dallas. And a neighbor said a sheriff’s deputy was stationed outside the home for about a month after the killing.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 12, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Lake Charles and Beaumont Offices of the US Marshals Office, located and arrested Jordan M. Davis, 23, 1835 Rena Street, Lake Charles, who was wanted for 2nd degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, without incident in Beaumont Texas.

During the early morning hours of March 10, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to The Keg at 4010 Goodman in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival they discovered Quincy James Lede, 33, Lake Charles, dead in the parking lot from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — About 4:30 this morning, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to The Keg at 4010 Goodman in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival they discovered Quincy James Ledet, 33, Lake Charles, dead in the parking lot from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Further investigation revealed Ledet was involved in a verbal altercation inside the nightclub with Jordan Mikole Davis and they were both escorted out. They became engaged in a verbal altercation outside in the parking lot when Davis pulled a handgun and shot Ledet.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — Today, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Billy Ray Harris, 38, Lake Charles, in connection with the murder of a Lake Charles woman.

On Sunday, July 29 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 2187 E. Gauthier Road, Lot # 418 in Lake Charles, after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor regarding a woman found inside a mobile home unresponsive. When deputies arrived, Raymona L. Gilmore, 38, was discovered fatally wounded inside her home.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On January 1, 2012 at 12:18 a.m., the Lake Charles Police Department received a call in reference to a subject shooting a gun in the area of 3619 Texas Street. Prior to the officer’s arrival, they were notified that the caller heard several gunshots. Upon arrival, the Officer heard multiple guns shots in the area of the complex. The officer then observed a black male walking in the parking lot. The subject fled on foot after the Officer attempted to stop him. As the Officer was exiting his vehicle, the suspect turned around and fired a shot in his direction. While taking cover, the Officer witnessed the suspect fleeing on foot toward the center of the complex.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On December 14, 2012 at 5:49 p.m., Lake Charles Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 6th Avenue and 12th Street in reference to what was thought to be a gun shot or vehicle crash.  Officers checked the area and did not find a crash but did observe shattered glass in the roadway.  Lake Charles Police Department later received a report from a local hospital of a victim being treated after someone shot out their vehicle window.
