C.A.T Team Busts Meth Lab in Moss Bluff

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 19 at approximately 3:30 p.m., detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) were dispatched to a home on E. Telephone Road in Moss Bluff in reference to a citizen’s complaint of a possible methamphetamine lab inside the home.

Upon detectives’ arrival, while attempting to make contact with the homeowner, Jason K. Smith, 39, and his live-in girlfriend, Amanda G. Chapman, 34, both of 428 E. Telephone Rd., Moss Bluff, they detected a strong chemical odor emitting from the front door. Detectives also observed several main components that are associated with operating a methamphetamine lab on the porch outside of the residence. Detectives secured the residence and obtained a search warrant for the home.

CPSO arrests Moss Bluff man for 4th DWI

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 6, at approximately 1:20 a.m., a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputy observed a truck which was traveling east on I-210 merging onto I-10 westbound swerve several times, leaving his lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the deputy observed Melvin R. Maddox, 47, 1325 Yvonne Lane, Moss Bluff, to have red bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and used his truck to stabilize himself while walking.

CPSO investigates Single Car Fatality

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 29, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to call of a single car accident involving three teenage boys.

Initial investigation revealed that three juveniles were on Idlebrook Road in Moss Bluff in an SUV belonging to one of the juvenile’s parents. At one point two males got on the roof of the car with their feet on the inside of an open sunroof.

CPSO arrests two for Burglary and Theft of Firearm

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On September 24, while investigating a vehicle burglary and theft of a firearm, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives questioned Jacob T Hooper, 17, 1646 Pecan Street, and Kayne M. Halloran, 19, 200 W. Weber Circle, both of Moss Bluff.

Detectives were able to recover the stolen firearm along with other property belonging to other victims. Through the course of the investigation it was also learned that Hooper and Halloran vandalized other property in the Moss Bluff area with spray paint and damaged numerous campaign signs.

CPSO arrrests Moss Bluff man in Connection with Drive By Shooting

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On July 27, around 4:30 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded in reference to a report of shots fired at a home on E. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered while the homeowner and his family were sleeping, they heard numerous gun shots being fired at their home. Deputies also discovered a witness was able to get a detailed description, including the license plate, of a black truck that was seen fleeing the area when the shots were fired.

After running the license plate number through NCIC, deputies quickly located the owner of the truck, Donald J. Ellis, Jr., 23, 1349 John Belle Road, Moss Bluff, at his home where they also located the black truck observed fleeing the area of the shooting.

CPSO arrests woman for DWI 3rd Time

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On June 24, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on a car near the intersection of Highway 171 North and Topsy Road in Moss Bluff for a traffic violation.

When the deputy approached the car and spoke with the driver, Kayla M. Fisher, 24, 805 Topsy Road, Moss Bluff, he detected her speech to be extremely slurred. The deputy also discovered Fisher was driving while under suspension for a prior DWI conviction.

After performing poorly on a standard field sobriety test, Fisher was arrested. During the investigation, deputies also discovered several prescription pills identified as Alprazolam (anti-anxiety) and Carisoprodol (muscle relaxant) inside Fisher’s wallet.

CPSO Vice conducts Undercover Op on Local Smoke Shops

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vice Division began an investigation in November of 2013 after detectives received numerous complaints about a store, Up in Smoke, located at 869 Sam Houston Jones Parkway, directly across the road from Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff, whose apparent primary sales was tobacco-type products.

Through the investigation detectives learned some of the products for sale at the store were glass smoking devices and containers used to hide objects (otherwise known as “hideaways”). The hideaways resemble Coke cans, cleaning supplies, or other common household products and have a hidden compartment located in them.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 15, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies conducting extra patrol at a Moss Bluff convenience store observed two suspicious men enter the store wearing camouflage clothing, which was covered in mud and water.

While speaking with the two men, later identified as Cody D. Brock, 24, 603 Madeline Street, Lake Charles, and Jeret M. Wilson, 27, 309 Morningside Drive, Moss Bluff, deputies received a call regarding an ATV in the ditch near the store. Deputies also discovered a cordless drill and a bag of numerous miscellaneous keys were located on the ATV.
