Sheriff Mancuso announces Method to Pay 2015 Property Taxes

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — Sheriff Tony Mancuso announces taxpayers can pay their 2015 property taxes online on the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office website at www.cpso.com by using a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express credit card. Taxpayers may also view and print their bill from the website.

“We are always looking for ways to make it more convenient for the taxpayers to pay their taxes,” says Sheriff Mancuso. “If you choose to pay online, there will be no lines to stand in and you will be able to pay your taxes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — Detective Michael Nicosia with the Lake Charles Police Department Sex Offender Registry attempted to locate James Lee Braxton, who is a Tier 3 Louisiana Sex Offender who is required to register in the state of Louisiana for life. Braxton listed an address on Moss Street and he could not be located there for several weeks. Detective Nicosia located and arrested James Braxton who admitted he was not living on Moss Street, but was staying with friends.

Braxton was convicted in 2001 for Forcible Rape. Braxton’s victim was a 14 year old female. Braxton was also convicted in 14th Judicial District Court on October 18, 2013 for Failure to Register/Notify as a Sex Offender.

C.A.T Team makes Pot Bust on I-10

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 13 at approximately 11:00 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Derek Goss conducted a stop on a vehicle near mile marker 38 traveling eastbound on I-10 for a traffic violation.

When Sgt. Goss spoke with the driver, Joseph Zamora, 23, California, and the passenger, they began to act suspiciously. Zamora and the passenger also gave conflicting stories about their reason for travel. Sgt. Goss detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed marijuana in plain view.

CPSO recovers Drowning Victim under I-10 Bridge

Saturday, May 16 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call around 5:30 p.m. regarding a possible drowning under the I-10 bridge.

The investigation revealed Joshua Moreaux, 22, Orange, TX, was kayaking with a group of friends when they decided to take a break under the I-10 bridge. Moreaux got out of his kayak and began to swim.

Once detectives arrived the child stated that Kerrian Javana Clofer, 26, Elms Street, Lake Charles, had held her hands over the open flame of a gas stove after she ate a snack without permission.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Monday, May 11 around 8:00 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at a residence in Lake Charles in reference to suspicious circumstances.

Detectives learned Carl Mark Slaven, 54, Lake Charles, had held two elderly family members, ages 83 and 91, overnight against their will. Slaven broke their home phones and their emergency alert necklaces and emergency alert callbox so the family members could not contact anyone. Slaven struck both family members and forced the family members to provide him with signed checks from their personal bank account.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Sunday, April 26, 2015, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Lake Charles Police Officers were involved in a stolen vehicle pursuit that started at the intersection of Moeling Street and Prater Street. The stolen vehicle was a 2006 Ford Focus, driven by Catherine Moore. It had just been stolen from the 2400 block of 9th Street where the owner left the keys in the vehicle and the engine running as they entered the residence.
