In an attempt to regain parents’ trust, educational officials said on Monday they are replacing all staff at a Los Angeles school where two instructors are accused of having sexually abused children.

Police on January 30 arrested Miramonte Elementary instructor Mark Berndt, who they say placed cockroaches on students’ faces and offered them spoonfuls of a substance found to be semen. Officials identified Saturday the gunman who opened fire on a busy Hollywood street but were still searching for a motive behind the brazen daylight rampage, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Tyler Brehm, 26, was shot dead by police after he walked to the corner of Sunset and Vine streets early Friday morning and began firing shots at passing cars and bystanders. Brehm allegedly unloaded about a dozen shots and caused panic in the area before a SWAT team and other police moved in, gunning him down. View full article »


Dozens of people reported observing a dazzling, bright light, or lights, streaking across the sky Wednesday night over Arizona and Southern California in what authorities said were likely meteor sightings.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office fielded more than a dozen such calls on Wednesday, and sheriff’s deputies at Deer Valley Airport in north Phoenix reported a sighting themselves, an agency spokesman, Lieutenant Justin Griffin, said. View full article »

So, for all of those who said the riots would never happen in America, well they kind of just did! An overcrowded theater and an invitation to a block party ended with an out-of-control crowd swarming Hollywood Boulevard outside a film premiere, leading to a clash with police in riot gear and closure of the famous street.

Some people threw bottles, vandalized cars and several hundred refused orders to disperse after they were forced to leave Grauman’s Chinese Theatre for a screening of a documentary about an electronic music festival Wednesday night, authorities said. View full article »
