CPSO to add Charges to man who misrepresented himself during Book-in at Jail



ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — Yesterday, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office released arrest information on a man who used a stolen casino rewards card to purchase over $540 worth of merchandise from casino stores. At the time of the arrest, the man, who had no form of identification on him, identified himself as Corey J. Barron, 25, Sulphur.

It was learned today after the story was made public and his mugshot was shown on the local media outlets, the man who actually committed the crime is Jacob L. Hastings, 26, Sulphur. Hastings will now be charged with theft over $500; and misrepresentation during booking.

Bieber held for 10 Hours after DUI & Drag Racing



Singer Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach before dawn Thursday after a street-racing incident, police said. He spent 10 hours in custody and was released from a Miami Dade county jail Thursday afternoon.

Bieber, 19, was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest without violence and having an expired driver’s license from the state of Georgia, Miami Beach Police Detective Vivian Hernandez said.

Neighborhood watch leader George Zimmerman was released from jail Friday for a second time while he awaits his second-degree murder trial for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman left the Seminole County Jail a day after Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester granted a $1 million bail with strict conditions.

The neighborhood watch leader is required to stay in Seminole County. He was allowed to leave Florida after his first release in April. He must be electronically monitored, can’t open a bank account, obtain a passport or set foot on the grounds of the local airport. He has a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

In a low-key event, George Zimmerman was released from a Florida jail on $150,000 bail as he awaits his second-degree murder trial in the fatal shooting of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin.

The neighborhood watch volunteer was wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans and carrying a paper bag as he walked out of the Seminole County jail around midnight Sunday. He was following another man and didn’t look over at photographers gathered outside. The two then got into a white BMW car and drove away.

A former Mexican government official wanted for embezzling millions was arrested in Texas this month, then promptly ordered released by the State Department in a case that has one lawmaker demanding answers.

A day after pulling rank on Smith County law enforcement officials, the State Department rescinded the order. But Hector Hernandez Javier Villarreal was gone by then. Now Rep.  Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) is calling for congressional hearings to find out what happened. View full article »

Lindsay Lohan was led out of a Los Angeles County courtroom in handcuffs after having her probation revoked for coming up way short in her community service obligations.

The actress, wearing heavy makeup, was expressionless as law enforcement officials cuffed and shepherded her to an adjacent room where she was placed in custody.

Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner set bail at $100,000. Lohan’s spokesman Steve Honig said she immediately posted bail. It was unclear if she had been released. View full article »

A man whose murder conviction was overturned after 17 years behind bars was released Tuesday from a Los Angeles jail.

Family members screamed and cried when Obie Anthony, 37, walked out of the Twin Towers jail at about 7:40 p.m., four days after the judge’s decision.

After his release, Anthony told reporters he read self-help books during his incarceration and kept his faith in God. He said he had no anger and believed the justice system worked.
