C.A.T Team makes Pot Bust on I-10

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 13 at approximately 11:00 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Derek Goss conducted a stop on a vehicle near mile marker 38 traveling eastbound on I-10 for a traffic violation.

When Sgt. Goss spoke with the driver, Joseph Zamora, 23, California, and the passenger, they began to act suspiciously. Zamora and the passenger also gave conflicting stories about their reason for travel. Sgt. Goss detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed marijuana in plain view.

C.A.T Team makes Codeine Bust on I-10

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 7 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Cpl. Chad Booth conducted a stop on a car near mile marker 42 traveling eastbound on I-10 for a traffic violation.

When Cpl. Booth was talking with the driver of the car, Jameson Smith, 26, Jackson, MS, he began to act suspiciously. Cpl. Booth then spoke with the two passengers of the vehicle, Kyle Paige, 26, and Javier Prophet, 23, both of Jackson, MS, who were also acting suspiciously and had conflicting stories about their travels. Cpl. Booth asked for permission to search the car but Smith refused.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 10 at approximately 9:40 a.m., the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Sgt. Derek Goss conducted a stop on a vehicle near mile marker 30 traveling eastbound on I-10 for a traffic violation.

When Sgt. Goss was talking with the driver of the car, Jessica Calloway, 29, Stone Mountain, Georgia, she began to act suspiciously. Sgt. Goss asked for permission to search the vehicle but Calloway refused. He then deployed his trained and certified drug detection K-9 “Basco” to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle and Baso provided a positive response to the odor of controlled substance coming from the vehicle.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at approximately 9:45 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near mile marker 26 eastbound on I-10, for a traffic violation.

The driver of the vehicle, Christopher Darnell Leggett (B/M DOB: 12/23/1983) of 12939 Seagrest Drive, Houston, TX claimed to be traveling to Gonzales, LA. During the traffic stop, Detectives observed Leggett began to act suspicious and show nervous indicators. Following the traffic stop, Detectives requested permission to search the car. Leggett gave written permission to search the vehicle.

A subsequent search was conducted and revealed a black taped bundle concealed under the center console containing approximately (2.2 lbs of cocaine) and a baby bottle on the passenger seat containing 3 ounces of liquid codeine.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 1, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detectives Cpl. Kevin Hoover and Pfc. Chad Booth conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound on I-10 between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation.

When the driver of the car, Karl M. Rankine, 28, Tamarack, Florida, began to act suspiciously, Cpl. Hoover asked for permission to search the car and he refused.

Cpl. Hoover then allowed his trained and certified drug detection K-9 “Mako” to conduct a free air sniff around the car. After Mako provided a positive response to the odor of controlled substance coming from the car, a search was conducted and a black suitcase containing approximately 5 pounds of marijuana wrapped in cellophane and duct tape, with an estimated street value of $6,000, was recovered from the trunk of the car.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Saturday, April 12, 2014 at approximately 4:43 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Corporal Kevin Hoover conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near mile marker 31 Eastbound on I-10 for a traffic violation.

The driver of the vehicle, Chaddrick Vashwan Landry (B/M DOB 08/31/1984) of 6566 E Monarch Street, Baton Rouge, LA, claimed to be traveling from Sulphur, LA to Baton Rouge, LA. Corporal Hoover then learned that Landry had an active warrant and he was placed under arrest. Corporal Hoover then deployed his K-9 Mako and obtained an odor response on the vehicle.

When the driver of the car, Deangelo C. Wright, 22, and passenger Curtis G. White, 44, both of South Carolina, began to act suspiciously, Sgt. Henderson allowed his trained and certified drug detection K-9 “Tonja” to conduct a free air sniff around the car.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 14, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Cpl. Kevin Hoover conducted a stop on a truck traveling eastbound on I-10 near the Lake Charles loop for a traffic violation.

When the driver of the truck began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Cpl. Hoover asked for permission to search the truck and he refused.

After Cpl. Hoover’s K-9 “Mako” alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the truck, a search was conducted and a bag containing approximately 2.5 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $100,000, was recovered from under the rear seat of the truck.

When the driver of the car, Patrick V. Roberts, 23, Norfolk, Virginia, and passenger Timothy J. Baines, II, 35, Houston, began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Cpl. Hoover asked Roberts for permission to search the car and he refused.
