TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — In March 2012, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received a report from Elderly Protective Services regarding David R. Duplichan, 57, 110 Goodwin Street, Kinder, stealing from an elderly acquaintance.

During the investigation, detectives discovered between March 2010 and February 2012, Duplichan stole over $72,000 from the elderly victim’s personal bank account. Detectives also learned Duplichan was incarcerated in the Lafayette Parish Jail on misappropriation of contractor’s payment charges.

Saints bring back Veteran C Goodwin on 1-year Deal

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says the club and Jonathan Goodwin have agreed to a one-year contract bringing the veteran center back to New Orleans.

The 35-year-old Goodwin has spent the past three seasons with San Francisco, playing in three straight NFC title games and a Super Bowl.

CPSO arrests man for Theft from Motel Room

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On the early morning hours of May 26, an occupant of a motel on Hwy. 171 flagged down a deputy and told him a man had just entered his open motel room while he was in the room and stole his laptop computer and cell phone. The deputy observed a man, Sylvester D. Barrett, 37, 702 17th St., Lake Charles, running from the motel.

When the deputy stopped Barrett to question him, he observed a laptop computer in the bushes. The victim identified the laptop as belonging to him. Barrett also had the victim’s cell phone in his pocket along with a marijuana cigarette.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vice Division began an investigation in November of 2013 after detectives received numerous complaints about a store, Up in Smoke, located at 869 Sam Houston Jones Parkway, directly across the road from Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff, whose apparent primary sales was tobacco-type products.

Through the investigation detectives learned some of the products for sale at the store were glass smoking devices and containers used to hide objects (otherwise known as “hideaways”). The hideaways resemble Coke cans, cleaning supplies, or other common household products and have a hidden compartment located in them.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — This morning at approximately 6:20 inmate trustee Shane Keith Hilton who walked off of his Calcasieu Correctional Center trustee job on litter detail at Marcantel Rd. and Hwy. 27 in DeQuincy yesterday afternoon was captured.

Detectives learned through their investigation that he was at a trailer park at 601 Goss Rd., in Westlake. The CPSO ACT Team arrived at the trailer park and found Hilton sitting in a truck he had stolen earlier in the evening from a home on Holbrook Park Rd. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Apple’s $3 billion purchase of Beats Electronics, by far the company’s largest acquisition, is at least in part recognition that Beats founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine might be able to help Apple incorporate more style and flair into its premium technology gadgets -especially a coming wave of wearable devices.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 24, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Sulphur regarding theft of property. The investigation revealed the victim was moving her place of residence and was being assisted by her father and an acquaintance, Jason Paul Manuel, 24, no known address. Later in the day, the father noticed some of his daughter’s furniture and other items were missing. Detectives learned Manuel was staying at a friend’s house in Sulphur and when they went to that address they located and recovered all of the victim’s missing property valued at over $3,950.

Manuel was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with felony theft. His bond was set at $3,500.
