ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 16, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives were contacted by the manager of Academy Sports & Outdoors Store regarding a report of internal theft from the store.

The manager advised detectives a security camera deployed in the shipping and receiving area captured manager Maurice E. Nugent, 41, 5852 Bennie Lane, Lake Charles, carrying a new trolling motor, worth over $500, out of the rear door. The trolling motor has since disappeared and has not been paid for nor returned to the store’s inventory.

Nugent was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft $500–$1,500 and was released on a $1,000 bond set by Judge Ron Ware.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 8, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched after receiving a call from the owner of a local business regarding former employee Courtney R. Miller, 30, 6015 Noble Lane, Lake Charles, stealing from the company.

During further investigation, detectives discovered Miller used over $950 in company funds to pay numerous personal bills between October and December 2012.

When questioned by detectives, Miller confirmed to using the company’s funds for personal use without permission from the company.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On September 18, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received a call from the owner of a local business regarding an employee stealing from the company.

The owner advised he recently discovered former employee Kyle M. Lyons, 49, 1730 Deer Creek, Sulphur, charged customers directly for materials which were provided by the company for building projects and covered in the contracted price on several occasions over the last 3 months, and kept the money. When questioned by detectives, Lyons confirmed he collected over $1,000 of direct payments from customers.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On September 13, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a store on W. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles regarding an employee stealing from the company.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a security team member of the store who advised them on numerous occasions over the past 4 months, store employee, Devon C. Hebert, 25, 607 Iris Street, Lake Charles, was captured on store video surveillance stealing over $2,500 by processing returned merchandise from customers and placing the returned money onto his personal gift cards. When questioned by deputies, Hebert confirmed the allegations.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 9, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a Sulphur business regarding an employee stealing materials.

During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance video from inside the business which revealed employee Paul V. Longpre, 34, 620 Pearl Street, Sulphur, stealing over $15,000 worth of nickel tubing from the shop area of the business.

The owner advised between August 2011 and January 3, 2012, accounts payable employee Deanna S. Allen, 41, Lake Charles, used over $21,700 in company funds for personal use. View full article »

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — In October 2011, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received a call from the owner of a local business regarding an employee stealing from the company.

The owner advised, after researching discrepancies in the company’s bank account, it was discovered Vicki L. Jeanis, 41 Lake Charles, who worked as a bookkeeper for the company, wrote herself over $67,000 worth of company checks to cash and would post the amounts under different vendors or subcontractor’s names.  View full article »

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On August 12, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local machine shop in reference to employee, Jeremy T. Ball, 35,  Moss Bluff, stealing materials.

When questioned by detectives, Ball confirmed to stealing over 140 pounds of stainless steel and 30 pounds of Inconel metal sheets, valued at over $1,200, from his employer and selling it at a local scrap yard. View full article »
