TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 14, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to call at a local hospital concerning an 8 year old girl having severe burns on both her hands and numerous marks all over her body. Once detectives arrived the child stated that Kerrian Javana Clofer, 26, Elms Street, Lake Charles, had held her hands over the open flame of a gas stove after she ate a snack without permission.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Monday, February 16, 2015, at approximately 5:39 a.m., Officers with the Lake Charles Police Department were dispatched to America’s Best Inn and Suites (401 North Lakeshore Drive) in reference to a hotel guest behaving strangely.

When officers arrived, the complainant told officers that Greg Carter, who had a small child, was behaving strangely but wasn’t doing anything wrong.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 9 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at a local hospital concerning a 2 year old child having severe burns on his body. Upon arrival deputies were informed that due to the severity of the burns the child would be transported to a hospital in Baton Rouge.

On October 16, detectives interviewed Melynnie Fondel, 32, 1411 Clarence St. B-6, Westlake, and she stated that she was running water for the child’s bath and had to step out to another room. While she stepped out she stated the child had crawled into the bathtub on his own. Fondel also stated that when she walked back into the bathroom the child was sitting in the water with a blank stare.

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 7 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives investigated a complaint of cruelty to a juvenile where the 4 year old child was found to have large bruises on her back. The investigation revealed a family acquaintance, Olmer M. Funes, 28, Lake Charles, whipped her with a belt on her back.

Funes was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $5,000.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 13, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched in reference to a complaint regarding Edward D. Brown, 54, 1313 Edith Street, Moss Bluff, observed physically abusing a 6 year old and a 7 year old family member on April 11.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Brown struck the two children several times with a belt, even striking the 7 year old while he was on the ground, causing welts and bruises.

When questioned by detectives, Brown confirmed the allegations.

Brown was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2 counts of cruelty to a juvenile and released on a $2,000 bond set by Judge Richard Wilson.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On February 20, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched after receiving a complaint regarding Shane A. Richard, 41, 6861 Earl Ellender Road, Sulphur, physically abusing a 12 year old family member.

When deputies arrived, they observed numerous bruises and marks on the child. During the investigation, deputies discovered Richard struck the child with a belt causing welts and severe bruises to his legs, buttocks, and back. Deputies also discovered on a previous occasion, Richard struck the victim numerous times on his legs with a fishing pole.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On February 24, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched after receiving a complaint regarding Jennifer L. Eastwood, 28, 335 Highway 171, #136, Lake Charles, physically abusing a 10 month old female family member.

Upon arrival, deputies learned Eastwood struck the victim with her hand, causing numerous whelps to her leg.

Eastwood was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — In October 2013, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the Department of Children and Family Services in reference to a 2 year old boy who had been brought into a local hospital with a broken leg.

During further investigation, detectives questioned Joshua J. Phillips, 33, and Christy L. Meche, 28, both of 409 N. Post Oak Road, Lot # 93, Sulphur, and both family members of the victim. Phillips advised detectives he struck the child on his right leg with a closed fist. Meche advised she was present in the home when Phillips struck the child and failed to report the incident.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 26, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local elementary school after receiving a complaint from school officials regarding Syreeta B. Joubert, 31, 2115 2nd Avenue, Lake Charles, physical abusing a 10 year old family member who is a student at the school.

Deputies learned Joubert struck the victim several times with a studded belt, causing numerous lacerations on the victim’s buttocks.

When questioned by detectives, Joubert confirmed the allegations. She was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1 count of cruelty to a juvenile and released on a $1,500 bond set by Judge Robert Wyatt.
