LCPD: C.A.T. Team make Drug Bust on I-10

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | Lake Charles, LA – On Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Corporal Kevin Hoover conducted a stop on a vehicle near mile marker 14 eastbound on I-10 for following too close.

The driver of the vehicle, Henry Allen Winks (B/M DOB 1/31/78) of 14747 Rhonda Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 claimed to be traveling from Houston, TX to Baton Rouge, LA. Corporal Hoover observed Winks acting suspiciously. Following the traffic stop, Corporal Hoover requested permission to search the car. Winks gave written permission to search the vehicle.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 28, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies patrolling in South Lake Charles observed a man, later identified as James P. Bertrand, Jr., 51, 3945 South Blue Sage Road, Lake Charles, in what appeared to be a narcotics transaction outside a gas station on Country Club Road.

Upon approaching Bertrand, deputies observed a smoking device in his back pocket. Bertrand then attempted to discard a clear plastic bag containing an off-white rock-like substance, discovered to be crack cocaine, which he had concealed in his mouth.

Bertrand was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession of CDS II (crack cocaine); and possession of drug paraphernalia.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 30, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Stuart Henderson conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the driver of the car, Bryant E. Comeaux, 40, Trinity, Texas, began to act suspiciously.

After receiving consent from Comeaux, Sgt. Henderson conducted a search of the car and recovered a trash bag inside a cardboard box containing three plastic wrapped bundles of marijuana, weighing over 30 pounds, and three plastic bags of suspected cocaine, with a combined street value of approximately $65,000, a digital scale, smoking device and rolling papers throughout the car.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Friday, June 1, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole conducted a stop on a SUV for a traffic violation near the Lake Charles Loop on I-10.

The driver of the SUV, Vilma I. Guardado-Rivera, 28, and passenger Laba L. Guardado-Rivera, 25, both of 5605 Breen Drive, Houston, Texas, who were accompanied by an 18-month old baby, told Sgt. Cole they were traveling from Houston to New Orleans.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 20 at approximately 7:30 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole conducted a stop on a car for a traffic violation near mile marker 32 eastbound on I-10.

When Sgt. Cole spoke with the driver of the car, Joseph R. Mitchell, 34, 326 Couch Court, Houma, he began to act suspiciously. After receiving consent from Mitchell, Sgt. Cole conducted a search of the car and recovered a vacuum sealed bag containing 1 kilogram of powder cocaine hidden in the driver’s side dash board, with an estimated street value of over $60,000.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On March 22, at 8:30 p.m., C.A.T. Team Sgt. Stuart Henderson conducted a stop on an SUV traveling east on I-10 near mile marker 12 for a traffic violation.

When Sgt. Henderson spoke with the driver of the SUV, Cornelius D. Warren, 36, 1220 Oak Avenue, Bogalusa, and passengers Dujuan J. Johnson, 30, 62198 N. 13th Street, Slidell, and Edward L. Smith, 24, 106 E. Cherrywood Lane, Pearl River, they began to act suspiciously. View full article »

The Los Angeles County Coroner ruled Thursday that the final cause of Whitney Houston’s death was drowning, as well as from effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.

According to Chief Medical Examiner Anthony T. Hernandez’s report, there was no foul play involved in the Feb. 11 death of Houston. She was found submerged in a bathtub filled with water at the Beverly Hills Hilton just hours before she was due to perform at Clive Davis’ Grammy Party. View full article »

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — Wednesday morning around 10:30 a detective with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) stopped Nedra S. Johnson, 40, Houston, TX, who was traveling east on I-10, for a traffic violation at Mile Marker 25. After further checking the detective learned she had been arrested for trafficking marijuana in Calcasieu Parish on a prior occasion. View full article »

CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR 2ND DEGREE BATTERY

This morning at approximately 2:00 a.m., detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vice Division conducted a stop on an vehicle near the 2900 block of Highway 90 in Sulphur for a traffic violation.

When detectives approached the vehicle to speak with the driver, later identified as John L. Runte, 26, Sulphur, they observed a bag of marijuana sitting on the center console of the vehicle. During further inspection of the vehicle, detectives also recovered .066 of powder cocaine, with an estimated street value of $400. View full article »
