Modern-day treasure hunters say they’ve found a sunken ship off the coast of Cape Cod, Mass., holding one of the biggest fortunes ever discovered in the ocean depths.

“There’s 71 tons of platinum, there’s some gold ingots and there’s also some uncut diamonds, industrial diamonds, that were on the Port Nicholson,” said Capt. Gary Esper. He’s one member of the team hoping to bring the goods to the surface. “I like to call us explorers rather than treasure hunters because treasure hunters have a bad name these days so we just went out there looking for the ship,” said Esper. DEVELOPING:  A sensitive conference call between the FBI and Scotland Yard was recorded and released online by the hackers in Anonymous, the group claimed Friday.

The group released a roughly 15-minute-long recording of what appears to be a Jan. 17 conference call devoted to tracking and prosecuting members of the loose-knit hacking group and its spinoff group LulzSec. There was no classified information on the call, FBI sources tell Fox News, noting that unsecure phones are not used for sensitive information. View full article »


The race for new-energy dominance is officially on. Earlier this month two of China’s oil giants, Sinopec and Cnooc, as well as Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company, Saudi Aramco, announced they would all seek to buy the same 30 percent stake in American hydraulic-fracturing-services firm Frac Tech Holdings LLC.

The announcements, arriving amidst great excitement about the potential of natural gas development in the United States, could touch off a competition worth up to $2 billion — and possessing far-reaching implications for both the global energy game and a still-foundering U.S. economy. The Discovery Channel’s hit reality series “Moonshiners” has millions of fans tuning in each week to watch the adventures of outlaw distillers in rural Virginia and the state liquor authorities who keep tabs on their activities. But the open flouting of state liquor laws by homespun characters with names like Tickle and Popcorn has some viewers – and authorities – questioning the show’s veracity.

“If illegal activity was actually taking place, the Virginia ABC Bureau of Law Enforcement would have taken action,” the state agency that regulates the sale of alcohol in Virginia said in a statement on December 29.

Just about two months after Dr. Mehmet Oz reported he found potentially dangerous levels of arsenic in apple juice, Consumer Reports released the details of its own investigation, which found 10 percent of sampled fruit juices contain arsenic and lead levels exceeding the federal drinking-water standards.

Consumer Reports tested 88 samples of apple and grape juice from stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Ten percent had arsenic levels more than the 10 parts per billion (ppb) limit and 25 percent had lead levels that exceeded the five ppb limit allowed for bottled water, as enforced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
