ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On July 23, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the Dollar General Store, 5725 Highway 14, Lake Charles, after an employee reported receiving a phone call saying a bomb threat had been called in to the store.

Numerous resources were deployed by the CPSO and employees and customers were evacuated from the store. After a thorough search of the store was conducted, deputies eventually cleared the building.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On July 19, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a construction site in the Windsor Subdivision off of Lake Street in Lake Charles in reference to a call regarding a burglary in progress.

Deputies were advised when the contractor arrived at the construction site, he discovered an employee of Lake Charles Public Works Department, later identified as Joseph S. Banks, 44, 2116 Creole Street, Lake Charles, using equipment owned by the City of Lake Charles, including a truck, a front end loader, and a trailer, to steal scrap metal and a tractor attachment valued at over $3,500, from the construction site.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On May 7, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a business on West Fourth Street in Iowa in reference to a burglary.

When deputies arrived, they discovered the tin on the rear of the building had been pried open and a new washing machine was stolen.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso has agreed to move his crawfish boil fundraiser (originally scheduled for this Saturday, May 12 from 2-4:00 p.m.) to accommodate a concert by Josh Ledet of American Idol at Burton Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Crawfish Boil Fundraiser will now be held this Friday, May 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Burton Coliseum.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On Friday, April 27, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a DWI checkpoint at the 4500 block of Highway 27 South in Carlyss to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.

Eight-hundred and sixty-two (862) vehicles were checked; eight (8) field sobriety tests were administered; seven (7) citations were issued; and the following person was arrested for DWI:

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 23, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched in reference to a burglary where over $8,000 worth of copper wire was stolen from a warehouse at the Conoco plant in Westlake.

After further investigation, detectives arrested John A. Domino, 32, 2404 Demarest Street, Lake Charles, in connection with the burglary and theft. During a search of Domino’s residence, detectives located and recovered the stolen copper in the backyard of Domino’s house. When questioned by detectives, he confirmed he stole the copper wiring from the warehouse at the Conoco plant.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 26, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vice detectives arrested Nicolas Tsotos, 63, 1140 Mary Street, Thomas J. Stephanis, 70, 20 Havencrest Road, both of Ontario, Canada, Robert R. Crimmins, 67, 7024 Villa Ridge Drive, Granbury, Texas, and Jeffrey W. Blanton, 43, 11300 Expo Blvd, Apt. # 1902, San Antonio, Texas, after an investigation revealed they received over $10,000 from several local victims after fraudulently representing themselves.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 24, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to parking lot on Mount Talbot Street in Lake Charles regarding a report of a suspicious vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a pick-up truck sitting in the parking lot that appeared to be abandoned. Upon further investigation, the deputies observed the locking mechanism on the driver’s side door of the truck had been punched out and the steering column had been damaged, exposing the wires.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — UPDATE: SUBJECT HAS BEEN ARRESTED! On April 23 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 1024 Walters Street, Apt. # 108, in Lake Charles to investigate a complaint regarding drug activity at the apartment.

When deputies arrived and spoke with tenant Kevin M. Jenkins, 25, they observed several half-burnt cigarettes containing a green-leafy substance inside the apartment. After receiving permission to search the apartment, deputies recovered a bag from the top of Jenkins’ closet which contained 6 bags of marijuana.
