ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 19, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a detective with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) conducted a stop on a minivan traveling eastbound on I-10 near Vinton for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, the driver of the minivan, Delroy Clarke, 39, 4502 Red Lake Lane, Richmond, Texas, began to act suspiciously. After running the license plate of the minivan through NCIC, the detective discovered the minivan had been reported stolen in September 2012 through the Montgomery Alabama Police Department.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 29, the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) along with the assistance of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime, Tactical & Training Unit (ACT-Team) executed a search warrant at the home of Kenneth R. Chieves, 37, 1506 13th Street, Lake Charles, after an investigation revealed multiple incidents of drug activity at the home.

During the search of the home, detectives located approximately 48 grams of methamphetamine, 3 grams of powder cocaine, 6 grams of crack cocaine, and several small baggies of marijuana. Detectives also located a 40 caliber handgun, along with over $1,600 cash.

Chieves, who is currently on parole for a previous possession of CDS II conviction, was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with possession of marijuana; possession of CDS II (powder cocaine) with intent to distribute; possession of CDS II (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute; possession of CDS II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute; possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Chieves was also charged on a warrant for distribution of CDS II (methamphetamine) in connection with a separate case.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 18, detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) conducted an investigation at a home at 710 East College Street in Lake Charles.

During a voluntary search of the home, detectives discovered several chemicals consistent with the creation or operation of a clandestine lab and also located two active meth labs inside the home. During further search, detectives also located methamphetamines, marijuana, several types of narcotics, and drug paraphernalia inside the home.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 17, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Cpl. Chris Johnson conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound on I-10 between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the driver of the car, Benjamin L. Mitchell, 47, 6603 Hirsch Road, Houston, Texas, began to act suspiciously.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On December 28, detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) were contacted by Xavier L. Johnwell, 19, 718 Tallow Road, Lake Charles, by accident. Johnwell stated he dialed the wrong number and that he was looking for his ‘weed’ man. While speaking with Johnwell, he asked detectives if they knew where he could get some marijuana. Detectives advised Johnwell yes, they did and arranged to meet Johnwell at Brentwood Park on Illinois Street in Lake Charles to make the narcotic transaction.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 16, at approximately 12:30 a.m., detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) were dispatched to 816 Bee Tree Street in Westlake in regard to a house fire that had possibly been caused by individuals manufacturing methamphetamine.

Upon arrival, C.A.T. detectives learned Westlake Fire Department had extinguished the fire prior to the entire house being destroyed by the fire. Detectives were unable to make contact with the homeowner or any other occupants, therefore a search warrant was obtained. During a search of the home, detectives located several items inside the home that were consistent with creation or operation of a clandestine lab.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 9 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Cpl. Chris Johnson and Cpl. Kevin Hoover with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) observed an SUV and a car traveling together east on I-10 between Vinton and Sulphur.  After observing them commit traffic violations, Cpl. Hoover and Cpl. Johnson conducted traffic stops on both vehicles.

An investigation revealed the driver of the SUV, Robert L. Hayward, 34, Cairo, GA, and the driver and passengers of the car, Antonio D. Holt, 28, Pelham, GA, William Knight, 35, and Jacenta J. Copeland, 24, both of Cairo, GA, were traveling together from Houston to Cairo, Georgia, although both parties claimed to be traveling alone.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 30, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Stuart Henderson conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the driver of the car, Bryant E. Comeaux, 40, Trinity, Texas, began to act suspiciously.

After receiving consent from Comeaux, Sgt. Henderson conducted a search of the car and recovered a trash bag inside a cardboard box containing three plastic wrapped bundles of marijuana, weighing over 30 pounds, and three plastic bags of suspected cocaine, with a combined street value of approximately $65,000, a digital scale, smoking device and rolling papers throughout the car.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 10, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Cpl. Christopher Johnson conducted a stop on a Jeep traveling eastbound near the Ruth Street exit in Sulphur for a traffic violation.

When the driver of the Jeep, Jordan R. Engleton, 27, 2416 Apple Street, Morgan City, and passengers Leroy D. Byers, 30, 212 Second Street, Morgan City, and Leroy Davis, III, 21, 173 S. Beadle Street, Lafayette, began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Cpl. Johnson asked Engleton for permission to search the Jeep and he refused.
