CPSO arrests two for Burglary and Theft of Firearm

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On September 24, while investigating a vehicle burglary and theft of a firearm, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives questioned Jacob T Hooper, 17, 1646 Pecan Street, and Kayne M. Halloran, 19, 200 W. Weber Circle, both of Moss Bluff.

Detectives were able to recover the stolen firearm along with other property belonging to other victims. Through the course of the investigation it was also learned that Hooper and Halloran vandalized other property in the Moss Bluff area with spray paint and damaged numerous campaign signs.

CPSO looking for man in connection with Burglary & Theft of vehicle in Vinton

TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On June 28, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched in reference to a vehicle burglary that occurred at a home on Foster Brothers Road in Vinton.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who advised during the night, two credit cards were stolen from inside her SUV that was parked at the home.

During the investigation, deputies received video surveillance footage which captured a man using the victim’s stolen credit cards to make unauthorized purchases at several Vinton and Sulphur businesses.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 10, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies conducting extra patrol in a South Lake Charles neighborhood due to recent reports of criminal activity, including vehicle and residential burglaries, thefts, and property damage, observed a suspicious man riding a bicycle through the neighborhood.

When deputies activated their unit lights and sirens signaling for the man on the bicycle to stop, the man did not comply and continued to flee from them. Moments later, the man jumped off of his bicycle and fled on foot.

Following a brief foot pursuit, the man, later identified as Matthew B. Hogan, 19, 3738 Heather Lane, Lake Charles, was located in the backyard of a home and apprehended by deputies without incident.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 8, 2014 at 4:00 a.m., the Lake Charles Police Department was contacted by a customer at L’Auberge Casino in reference to witnessing an unknown male attempting to break into a car. Officers Michael Flurry, Luke Elter and Jess Griepsma responded to the call. The witness directed officers to the suspects’ vehicle. When officers approached, the suspect fled across the parking lot resulting in a vehicle pursuit.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 8, 2014 at 10:00 p.m., Lake Charles Police Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West School Street in reference to a robbery. Investigation revealed that the victim saw two suspects burglarizing his vehicle and confronted them. He saw that one of the suspects took his handgun out of his vehicle and ran. The victim chased the suspects until officers arrived and apprehended them.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 4, 2013 at 11:08 a.m., Officers Jacob Pearson and Adam Williams responded to a burglary in progress at 528 7th Street (Project Fit).

Officers located a burglarized vehicle with a purse and other items missing.

The following day, Corporal John Russell was working the DDACTS Pro-active burglary detail. After researching the report and witness information, Corporal Russell was able to obtain an address on the suspect.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 28, 2013 at 9:34 p.m., Corporal Kevin O’Rourke was dispatched to the 300 block of Washington Street in reference to a vehicle burglary. Upon arrival, Corporal O’Rourke met with the victim who stated that a black male went into their vehicle and stole property out of it.

A suspect name and vehicle description was obtained by Officers. Corporal O’Rourke sent a BOLO of the suspect and vehicle information to other Lake Charles Police Department Officers on-duty. Corporal Robert Janice located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Windsor and Jefferson drive.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 1 AM Officers with the Lake Charles Police Department were dispatched to the area of Barbe Street and Shell Beach Dr. reference to suspicious persons/activity. Officers were advised that a black male was observed walking around pulling on vehicle doors in the neighborhood.

Officers located a subject matching the description riding a bicycle at Barbe Court and Sallier St. Upon field contact with this individual Officer’s investigation revealed that the subject was in possession of stolen property from several different residences in the area. Officers located the home owners and they confirmed the property in the suspect’s possession was their property.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 9, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a business on Derek Drive in Lake Charles regarding a purse snatching.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the elderly victim who advised a woman, later identified as Kelli R. LeBlanc, 20, 1500 N. Adams Street, Ragley, befriended her in the store and when the victim was distracted, LeBlanc stole the victim’s purse from her shopping cart and fled the store.
