TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On February 12, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in reference to a shooting. When deputies arrived on the scene on W. Verdine St. in Sulphur, the shooting victim was in the process of being transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Further investigation revealed the victim had gone to a home at 4409 Fisher St. in Westlake to look for a man that owed him some money. When the victim knocked on the door he was met by Abraham Handy, Jr., 58, who lived in the home. Once inside the home the victim spoke to the man who owed him money then Handy shot the victim in the hip and struck him several times in the head with the gun.

The victim left the home and drove himself to his house where his wife called 911 and an ambulance was dispatched to take him to the hospital.

On February 13 the CPSO ACT Team arrested Handy, Jr. at his residence. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with attempted second degree murder.
Judge Guy Bradberry set his bond at $250,000.
