TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Office has been award a $125,960 grant by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. The grant will be used to place off duty deputies on the roads to enforce seatbelt laws, drinking and driving laws, underage drinking and driving laws, and speeding laws.

The Sheriff’s Office will utilize checkpoints and saturation patrol to enforce these laws.

“We are very pleased to receive this grant which will allow us to have more patrol deputies on the road enforcing traffic laws that will help to keep our citizens safe,” says Sheriff Tony Mancuso. “We will be looking for, and arresting or ticketing, those violators that make it dangerous for the law-abiding drivers.”

These special enforcement campaigns will run through September 20, 2015.
