During the investigation, detectives learned between June 2013—July 16, 2014, Michelle A. Fontenot, 42, 415 S. Storer Avenue, Iowa, was hired to provide sitting services for the elderly victim. Fontenot also confirmed she gave the stolen items to Kane A. Fontenot, 19, also of 415 S. Storer Avenue, Iowa, who then sold them to a local pawn shop for cash.

Both were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft of assets of an aged person over $1,500. Kane Fontenot is also charged with illegal possession of stolen things over $500.

Judge Sharon Wilson set their bonds at $10,000 each.

Some of the stolen jewelry has been recovered by detectives and returned to the victim.
