TOTALLY HITS RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On the early morning hours of May 26, an occupant of a motel on Hwy. 171 flagged down a deputy and told him a man had just entered his open motel room while he was in the room and stole his laptop computer and cell phone. The deputy observed a man, Sylvester D. Barrett, 37, 702 17th St., Lake Charles, running from the motel.

When the deputy stopped Barrett to question him, he observed a laptop computer in the bushes. The victim identified the laptop as belonging to him. Barrett also had the victim’s cell phone in his pocket along with a marijuana cigarette.

Barrett was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with burglary; possession of stolen property; theft; and possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $9,000.
