ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 3, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local casino parking garage regarding a vehicle burglary.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who advised an iPad and a black luggage bag containing several other items valued at over $950, were stolen from his vehicle that was parked in the casino parking garage.

During further investigation, video surveillance of the parking garage captured a man, later identified as Dustin W. Bowdoin, 31, 130 W. Hale Street, Lake Charles, entering the victim’s vehicle and stealing the iPad as well as the black luggage bag containing several other items.

Deputies located Bowdoin in a casino hotel room and after receiving consent deputies conducted a search of the hotel room and recovered the stolen iPad, along with the other items reported stolen by the victim. Deputies also recovered two bags containing methamphetamine, over 60 Viagra prescription pills, for which Bowdoin did not have a prescription, and a postal digital scale.

During the search of the room, deputies also recovered a digital camera, GPS, and several other electronic items valued at over $1,000, which were discovered to be stolen from another vehicle parked in the casino parking garage.

When questioned by deputies, Bowdoin confirmed to stealing the items from both victim’s vehicles that were parked in the casino parking garage.

Bowdoin was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2 counts of simple burglary; 2 counts of theft over $500, possession of CDS II (meth); possession of a legend drug (Viagra) without a prescription; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All of the stolen items were recovered by deputies and returned to the victims.

Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $67,500.

Sr. Cpl. Joshua Donovan and Deputy Adam Wentzel were the arresting deputies and CPSO Detective Jeremy Trahan is the lead investigator on this case.
