ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 26, 2014, the Lake Charles Police Department responded to a burglary in progress in the 1600 block of 16th Street. The suspect was later identified as Kerry Clofer Sr., 25 years of age, residing at 2501 Enterprise Boulevard, Lake Charles, LA.

The home owner interrupted Clofer while he was burglarizing their home and was able to provide responding Officers with a physical and clothing description. Officers located Clofer several blocks from the crime scene where he was detained and later arrested after the victim positively identified Clofer.

Clofer was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. Bond was set at $2,500.00 by Judge Wyatt. Investigating Officer is Tony Magee, arresting Officers are Corporal Mitch Sawyer and Officer Steven Fontenot.

After obtaining a search warrant for Clofer’s residence, Detectives with the Lake Charles Police Department recovered several stolen items that were taken from homes that were recently burglarized in the Lake Charles area. Based on the new evidence, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Clofer and took him into custody on Thursday, March 27, 2014.

Clofer was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and charged with 1 count of aggravated battery, 1 count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, 12 counts of simple burglary of inhabited dwelling, 8 counts of felony theft and 2 counts of misdemeanor theft. Clofer’s bond was set at $121,000.00 by Judge Robert Wyatt, 14th Judicial District Court. The investigation is on-going.
