ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On 02-22-14 around noon Lake Charles Police Officers were involved in a pursuit of a vehicle. The incident began as a report of a stolen vehicle in the 2300 block of Fruge Street. Once Officers obtained the license plate and description of the vehicle a search of the vehicle began.

A few minutes after the report was filed an officer located the stolen vehicle near the intersection of highway 14 and Prien Lake Road. Upon the officer trying to stop the vehicle a pursuit ensued. While pursuing the stolen vehicle, the suspect driver exceeded the speed limit, disregarded 6 stop signs and 19 red lights. The driver also caused several other vehicles to turn off the roadway to avoid wrecks. The suspect did stop at one point but when officers exited their vehicle to apprehend the driver he sped off again.

During the pursuit the suspect also used the stolen vehicle to try to attempt to run officers off the road. The pursuit went for about 8 miles finally coming to an end at the intersection of Kirkman Street and Opelousas Street.

There were no reported injuries.
