ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — The Lake Charles Police Department Detective Division was investigating a ring of vehicle burglaries in the Lake Charles area. It was learned that the suspect would target vehicles in restaurant parking lots by looking through the windows for a purse or something of value inside. The suspect would then shatter the passenger window and remove the victim’s property. Over the course of 10 days, the suspect committed 7 burglaries and 7 thefts valued over $500.00 dollars. The suspect was identified as Shawn Stephen Calhoun, white male, 33 years of age residing at 9942 Broussard Road, Bell City, Louisiana. Detectives with the Lake Charles Police Department obtained an arrest warrant and apprehended Calhoun on February 12, 2014. Calhoun was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Jail with a bond of $25,000.00
