ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On August 11, around 9:00 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded in reference to a report of three young children – a 10 year old, 6 year old, and a 5 year old – left unattended outside of a Lake Charles mobile home. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Juwanda N. Dejean, 32, 7114 Corbina Road, Lot # 53, homeowner and family member of the children, left the children unattended and locked out of the mobile home from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Dejean and on January 21, Dejean was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 3 counts of child desertion.

The children were removed from the home by the Department of Children & Family Services and placed with family members.

Judge David Ritchie set her bond at $15,000.
