ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:40 pm, Officers with the Lake Charles Police Department were dispatched to the Walgreen’s Pharmacy located at 2636 Ryan St. in reference to a report of an Armed Robbery. Officers were given a physical and clothing description of the suspect who had just robbed the pharmacy area of the store.

Investigation revealed that a white male, later identified as Jessie P. Rogers, of Lake Charles entered Walgreen’s and approached the pharmacist. Mr. Rogers then stated that he wanted to pick up his prescription. When the pharmacist advised that the prescription could not be located Rogers produced a weapon demanding that he be given bottle of Dilaudid. After obtaining the bottle of Dilaudid, Rogers fled the scene.

While searching the area following the robbery, Corporal David Bray located Rogers several blocks away from the crime scene, Officer Bray observed that that Rogers appeared to very similar in his physical appearance and clothing description to that of the robbery suspect. While conducting a field interview, Officers learned Rogers had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Rogers was arrested on these warrants and taken back to Walgreen’s. The pharmacist was able to make a positive identification of Rogers as the person who had committed the armed robbery. After obtaining a search warrant for Rogers’s truck several weapons were located along with additional evidence tying Rogers to the armed robbery.

Jessie Rogers was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center for Armed Robbery, Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Possession of a Concealed Weapon in addition to the two outstanding warrants. His bond is pending.

Investigating Officers on the scene were Corporal’s Aandrea Leleaux and David Bray while Detective Michael Nicosia is handling the follow up investigation.
