ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 28, 2013 at 9:34 p.m., Corporal Kevin O’Rourke was dispatched to the 300 block of Washington Street in reference to a vehicle burglary. Upon arrival, Corporal O’Rourke met with the victim who stated that a black male went into their vehicle and stole property out of it.

A suspect name and vehicle description was obtained by Officers. Corporal O’Rourke sent a BOLO of the suspect and vehicle information to other Lake Charles Police Department Officers on-duty. Corporal Robert Janice located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Windsor and Jefferson drive.

Corporal Janice conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle but the driver refused to stop resulting in a pursuit. The chase ended when the suspect vehicle pulled into the driveway of 133 Heather Street. At 10:28 p.m., Officers were able to arrest Blake Aaron Mouton Smith when he exited the suspect vehicle. Detective Dustin Gaudet handled follow up investigation on this incident. Smith was booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center.

Suspect: Blake Aaron Mouton Smith, 22 year old black male, address 133 Heather Street, Lake Charles, LA.

Charges: Simple burglary of a motor vehicle, bond $7,000.00, Theft, bond $3,000.00, Flight from an Officer, bond $1,000.00, No Drivers license, bond $500.00, Ran Stop Sign, bond $500.00, Resisting arrest, bond $500.00.

Total bond: $12,500.00.
