ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 26, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched after receiving a complaint from a victim regarding several personal checks that had been stolen from his home.

Once the victim realized the checks had been stolen, he contacted his bank and discovered between December 21 and January 24, over $4,000 worth of his checks had been written and cashed at a local bank.

During further investigation, detectives discovered Kelvin L. Brown, 26, 4451 5th Avenue, Apt. # 28, Lake Charles, who had been hired to provide sitting services through a local company for the victim’s son, stole the checks and forged the victim’s signature to cash them at a local bank.

When questioned by detectives, Brown confirmed he forged the signature and cashed the stolen checks. On January 29, Brown was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 13 counts of forgery; and theft over $1,500.

He has been released on a $10,000 bond set by Judge Wilford Carter.
