ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 28, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received a report of domestic battery.

When deputies spoke with the victim, she advised during a verbal altercation with family member Charles R. Moore, 40, 1067 Southern Meadows, Lot # 5, Moss Bluff, Moore struck her in the face, then wrapped a cord around her neck and began strangling her.

During the investigation, detectives discovered during an examination by doctors, the victim was found to have suffered a bruised eye and a broken hand.

An arrest warrant was issued for Moore, and on May 2 he was arrested at his home without incident. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with domestic abuse battery by strangulation; and 2nd degree battery.

Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $50,000.
