ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On March 11, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on a truck on Pujol Street in Lake Charles for a traffic violation.

When the deputy approached the truck and spoke with the driver, Eric M. Hebert, 51, 124 Duke Road, Ragley, and passenger David E. Brinson, Jr., 35, 6446 Barton Drive, Lake Charles, they began to act suspiciously.

The deputy asked for permission to search the truck and Hebert refused.  A CPSO K9 Unit was dispatched to the scene and alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the truck.

During a search of the truck, deputies located several plastic bags containing methamphetamine, a plastic bag of marijuana, 2 metal spoons, a postal digital shipping scale, and numerous syringes.

Hebert and Brinson were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession of CDS II (meth); possession of marijuana; 6 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia; and obstruction of justice.

Judge Kent Savoie set their bonds at $7,500 each.
