McNeese State’s women’s basketball team (9-4) will conclude non-conference play and will look to snap a two game losing streak, its longest of the season hereTuesday night when the Cowgirls host Wiley College (7-2).  Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be carried live on Cajunradio (KJEF 1290 or 1470 AM).  The game has been designated as Youth Basketball Night.  Any youth wearing their basketball jersey to the game will get in free.The game is the first of the next four home games for the Cowgirls including their first three Southland Conference games.  McNeese will begin defense of its Southland Conference title this Saturday, Jan. 7 in a 1 p.m. game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.   The Cowgirls will host Lamar at 5:30 p.m., Jan. 11 in the first of a doubleheader with the men’s team.  The final home game in the four game home stand will be against Texas State on Jan. 14.  That game has a 1 p.m. start.

Juniors Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett enter tonight’s game as the Cowgirls’ scoring leaders averaging 14.5 ppg. apiece.  Caitlyn also leads the team with a 46.0 three-point field goal percent and 4.0 assists per game.  Candace LaCombe leads the team with a 76.9 free throw percent, Kendra Wells leads the team with 8.2 rpg. and Martika Hull leads the team with a 52.5 field goal percent and 2.2 steals per game.

Wiley College has three players averaging in double figures and are led in scoring by Alieshia Carruthers’ 14.0 ppg.
