ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On December 12, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home on Niblett’s Bluff Park Road in Vinton regarding a report of a burglary.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the victim who advised his shop door had been kicked in and several tools, including a chainsaw, were stolen. Deputies at the scene also recovered a black MP3 player, believed to be left behind by the suspect.

On December 17, Daniel S. Purvis, 31, Vinton, contacted CPSO deputies regarding filing a report on the theft of his black MP3 player. After further investigation, deputies discovered Purvis’ MP3 player matched the description of the MP3 player recovered from the scene of the burglary on Niblett’s Bluff Park Road.

When questioned by detectives, Purvis confirmed to forcibly entering the victim’s shop and stealing a chainsaw and some aluminum cans. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; theft over $1,500; and simple criminal damage to property.

The chainsaw was recovered and returned to the owner.

Judge Kent Savoie set his bond at $5,000.
