ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On November 4, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Nichol’s Dry Goods store in DeQuincy in reference to Brian J. Mire,  Houston River Road, Sulphur, using worthless checks to purchase two firearms.

Deputies were advised between October 7 and October 8, Mire purchased a Smith & Wesson pistol valued at over $500, and a Browning rifle valued at over $800, by writing checks from an account that had been closed for over 2 months.

During further investigation it was learned the pistol was pawned at a Texas pawn shop and was recovered by deputies. The rifle has not been recovered but has been entered into NCIC as a stolen firearm.

Mire was arrested on November 15 and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2 counts of theft of a firearm.

Judge Wilford Carter set his bond at $2,000.
