CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR 2ND DEGREE BATTERY

This morning at approximately 2:00 a.m., detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vice Division conducted a stop on an vehicle near the 2900 block of Highway 90 in Sulphur for a traffic violation.

When detectives approached the vehicle to speak with the driver, later identified as John L. Runte, 26, Sulphur, they observed a bag of marijuana sitting on the center console of the vehicle. During further inspection of the vehicle, detectives also recovered .066 of powder cocaine, with an estimated street value of $400.

Runte was arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession with intent CDS II; possession of CDS I (marijuana); and driving under suspension.
