On July 25, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the neighborhood of Mars Street, Earth Street, and Juniper Street in Sulphur after receiving several reports of vehicles being broken into. The victims reported several items were stolen out of their vehicles during the night, including three handguns stolen from their unlocked vehicles.

Detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of Jeremy L. Comeaux, 18, and Jacob P. Landry, 17, both of Sulphur, in connection with the numerous burglary and thefts. When questioned by detectives, Comeaux and Landry confirmed the allegations.

Comeaux, who is currently incarcerated at the Calcasieu Correctional Center for a July 26 attempted carjacking and attempted armed robbery in Sulphur, in which he used one of the stolen handguns, was charged with 10 counts of simple burglary of a motor vehicles; 10 counts of theft from a motor vehicle; and 3 counts of theft of a firearm. Judge David Ritchie set Comeaux’s bond at $370,000.

Landry was booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center on September 14 and is also charged with 10 counts of simple burglary of a motor vehicle; 10 counts of theft from a motor vehicle; and 3 counts of theft of a firearm. Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $195,000.
