ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On September 13 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole conducted a stop on an SUV near mile marker 30 traveling east on I-10 for a traffic violation.
During the traffic stop, Sgt. Cole allowed his K-9 “Basco” to conduct a free air sniff of the air around the SUV. After Basco alerted to the odor of narcotics, Sgt. Cole conducted a search of and recovered a box in the cargo area containing approximately 4.5 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $10,000.
Following interviews with detectives, Kelstin T. Henderson, 21, Pearl River, LA, a passenger in the SUV, was arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
